Let us know your thoughts on the new FFA New Horizons online.
Are any of you starting to think about life after high school? If so, do you have lots and lots of questions about entering college?
If you’re like many FFA members I know, thinking about college can make you nervous or even a little scared. You start asking yourselves the big questions like: “What school will I choose?”, “What will I major in?” and the bigger question, “How do I even start to figure these things out?” Believe me, I’ve been there. And the answers to the questions are sometimes tough to figure out.
Believe it or not, your FFA membership will help you make some of these decisions. Ever wondered what the “real-life” application for career development events or supervised agricultural experience programs are? Many of you might just find your ultimate career through your FFA involvement. For example, a good friend of mine (and fellow FFA alumnus) chose a career as a land surveyor after participating in the agricultural mechanics CDE. And I decided I wanted to enter a journalism career after writing speeches for the prepared public speaking CDE. Start thinking about what FFA activities you enjoy the most, and your career might be related.
Right now, the idea of college and careers is fresh on my mind. We’re planning our August 2008 issue, the annual college edition of FFA New Horizons. For this year’s college article, we want to include answers to real questions from real FFA members. So send us your college questions! We’ll get expert answers – from admissions officers, college professors and collegiate FFA members and publish many of Q&As in the print magazine, and the rest online here at ffanewhorizons.org.
You can send your questions directly to or through our website feedback form. Any question (large or small) is welcome!
