Q“Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) is a series of three trainings throughout the year made possible by our amazing state officers. It’s 24 hours of intense training and fun workshops, all held by the state officers. It is an opportunity for chapter officers all over the state to meet other officers, hang out with current and past state officers, and learn so many skills and activities to bring back to your home chapter. Each chapter can bring up to six officers and our state’s event is held at Arizona State University. It is a great experience and you learn so much while having so much fun! You play games, sing songs, learn leadership and public speaking skills, discuss some of the hottest agricultural issues affecting the industry today, and have a blast! This conference is open to all chapter officers, even those not from Arizona. In the August 2007 session, we had Viktoria, a chapter officer from Alaska, join us at COLT. It’s a great training and if you ever get the chance to go, go for it!”
– Luisa Lopez, Rio Rico FFA Chapter, Arizona

A Check with your FFA advisor to find out if there is a chapter officer training in your state. If not, come up with some ideas of your own and host one at your school! Training sessions on speaking, planning and organizing are truly helpful to chapter officers and will make you a more effective leader.
