There’s Nothing Like a Fair

I know it may sound strange, but I love the smell of a fair - cotton candy, corndogs, funnel cakes, and yes, even the smell of the livestock barns. In fact, the livestock barns (despite the smell, which I think isn’t that bad at all) are my favorite parts. I grew up showing sheep and swine all over the Southeast from July to October, so I’m pretty well-versed in what goes on at a fair. And even though I haven’t shown an animal in six years, I still get excited when I see a champion drive or watch a first-time competitor enter the ring. My best friends are those people I met while showing sheep, and in fact, I’m now roommates with one. Funny how these experiences really leave their mark on you.
